I began my journey by eliminating the kidney triggers such as refined added sugars, reading The 30 Day Faith Detox, drinking a good greens product and drinking more and purified water and eating clean.

As part of the 30 day faith detox, I needed to begin in the gut.  I began to address my lower bowels and take some high quality enzymes and a good probiotic to replenish my gut flora.  I was reminded of the amazing testimonials I had heard from customers while working for Dr Christopher’s Herb in college.  We sold a formula specific to cleaning the bowels and I definitely needed and extra boost and decided to use the ingredients in Dr Christopher’s Lower Bowel Formula. and put together my own tea with herbs I found locally from World Of Nutrition, Nampa’s bulk herb section for half the price.  If making your own formula isn’t for you, here is a great option as well for your colon health.  The Supplement Facts are listed below.

Beginners Shopping List

Here is a list of items suggested for those just starting out or not fully SOLD OUT on the idea or those who just want to enjoy GOOD GOD FOOD and healing at the same time.

A good rule of thumb here is to find single ingredient foods with one ingredient in it.

No added ingredients, flavors, colors, preservatives etc. (So peanut butter would just have peanuts as the ONLY ingredient.  This takes a bit of getting used to but as you move along you will find products that you go to every time.

Depending on where you shop and what you buy.  Although I prefer to buy my items local, I do have to admit that I shop Costco for bulk items because I am on a budget too.

If buying meat, I try to find it grassfed organic.

Milk, I buy raw goats milk.  But even raw milk  is a good alternative.

Today’s Challenge

Swap Sugar

Take the time today to treat yourself.  However, instead of sugar, swap out one of your regular choices with honey, molasses, stevia, agave or a fruit.  Be cautious here as these are still sugars and less is needed for sweetness.  Here is how sugar is ranked.

Maybe this means taking something you enjoy and giving it a makeover and substituting ingredients.  It is important to use less of the alternative sugar.

IDEAS:

  • Try replacing your morning coffee and sugar with honey, agave, stevia, raw coconut sugar.
  • Try Lemon and molasses water instead of your soda.
  • Whip up a batch of Healing Fudge instead of a candy bar.
  • Plan ahead and make Homemade Granola
  • Choose a sugarless smoothie instead of ice cream
  • Use healthy alternatives for sugar sparingly as they are more concentrated sugars.

 

NOT ALL SUGAR FREE IS SAFE

Be careful not to fall into looking for sugar-free as an alternative. There are many unsafe alternatives that are as bad or worse than added sugar.
